Did you know there are more than 5,639,000 apps available in the leading app stores as of the 2nd quarter in 2020, according to Statista? No wonder we are overloaded with apps for everything. The most popular apps fall into 7 different categories: gaming, business, education, entertainment, lifestyle, utility and travel apps.

I don’t know about you but every time I hear “Just download this app…….,” I get a bit annoyed. Why does everything we do need an app? Some apps are helpful, yes, but many are time suckers and take us away from living our lives and being present. We are all familiar with the sound of that “ping” or seeing a notification, where we take a quick look that then turns into 30 minutes of time lost that we can never get back.

Every time I download another app, I feel like I just cut myself off a little more from society. The more apps we have the less we interact with each other and the more disconnected we feel from one another. The more apps we have, the more companies gather our information and the more privacy we lose in our lives.
